Grand West
Description
The tour with a local guide to the two main natural attractions of Westfjords and the most amazing natural wonders, the must-sees of Westfjords.
Visit the westernmost point of Europe and walk along the edges of Látrabjarg, the largest bird cliff in Europe. You will be able to see the abundant birdlife, walk to the edge of the 440 m high cliff and enjoy the majestic unspoiled nature of Iceland. It is the best place in the world to photograph puffins up close as they enjoy posing for photographers during bird season (April-July). Note that the birds have generally migrated from early August to mid-August.
We will also visit Rauðasandur Beach, one of Iceland's best kept secrets and most appreciated by locals. Red in color in a beautiful setting amid black cliffs and a blue ocean, its stillness and unspoiled beauty will not leave you indifferent.
We visited the Hnjótur heritage museum to learn how people lived in the old days and how they rescued sailors from ships stranded under the cliff. Optional light lunch.
The roads in Westfjords can be difficult and challenging to fully enjoy the majestic scenery while driving, so leave your car parked, we will make frequent stops to photograph and enjoy the beauty of this area, white sand beaches in different shades and sea of turquoise Color.
