Dalvík
Is a fishing town located in the North part of Iceland in Eyjafjörður. It is between the town Akureyri to the south about 43 kilometers away and Ólafsfjörður to the north about 17 kilometers away. The population is around 1500 people mainly living from fishing and fish production.
Dalvík has a good skiing resort and the area is known for being a great place for heliskiing. Every summer there is a day dedicated to fishing and fish production in Dalvík called the Great Fish Day or in Icelandic Fiskidagurinn mikli, during the second weekend in August. The people have the opportunity to taste a wide range of fish dishes, as well as enjoying a big concert with Icelandic pop and rock stars.
Like many other towns in Iceland Dalvík as a good swimming pool. Other things to do in Dalvík is check out the museum, golf, sea angling, whale watching, birdwatching or go horseback riding. Dalvík offers good accommodation including guesthouses, cottages and camping ground as well as restaurants and cafés.
