Iceland hosting a major CrossFit event in early May

Iceland will be hosting a major international CrossFit-sanctioned competition in early May, this is part of the new CrossFit event arrangement for competitors to receive invitations to compete at the CrossFit Games.

The old Regionals system will be replaced by 16 newly sanctioned events acting as invitationals and will become a direct pathway for winning male, female and team from each event to compete in the CrossFit Games.

One of this 16 events will be hosted by CrossFit Reykjavík, the largest CrossFit box in Iceland and one of the largest in the world.

CrossFit is very popular in Iceland and for a reason, four times Icelanders have won the title “Fittest on Earth”. Annie Thorisdottir and Katrin Davidsdottir have both won the title “Fittest on Earth” two times and Sara Sigmundsdottir came in third place at the 2015 and 2016 CrossFit Games. Björgvin Karl Guðmundsson was also in third place at the 2015 CrossFit Games.
